Magnetic 3D Partners with the University of Central Florida’s VARLab on Digital Twin Research

New York – Magnetic 3D today announced a partnership with the University of Central Florida’s VARLab for digital twin research using the company’s holographic glasses-free technology. The VARLab’s research group focuses on how immersive visualization can address business challenges across industries using advanced simulation and modeling techniques.

For example, Magnetic 3D’s 100” Glasses-free 3D displays allow researchers to visualize the layout and design of manufacturing facilities, and with the benefit of depth perception, test configurations with real-word data on the fulfillment process and then examine the operational business processes in a simulated immersive 3D environment to optimize efficiency. This “smart manufacturing” technique results in cost savings by leveraging the power of a digital twin in the design, development, and engineering phases of a project through to construction. Subsequently, the “Twin” may be linked to the physical environment with sensors and data that enable real-time insights.

The benefit of a digital twin is the ability to see dynamic activity through 3D simulations. Magnetic 3D’s technology makes possible to view these models with depth perception and put the viewers inside the process. Leveraging glasses-free 3D in the initial concept phase also helps engineers demonstrate innovative projects in an immersive environment to key stakeholders to gain their understanding and buy-in.

Dr. Carolina Cruz-Neira is a computer scientist, researcher, educator, and pioneer of virtual reality known for inventing the cave automatic virtual environment (CAVE). She is currently the co-director of the VARLab and Agere Chair Professor at the University of Central Florida (UCF).

Dr. Cruz-Neira said, “We are excited about our partnership with Magnetic 3D because their glasses-free 3D displays have incredible benefits and a lot of utility for many applications in our field. Our research group primarily focuses modeling and simulation in 3D environments, so we appreciate Magnetic 3D’s platform, which allows us to visualize and collaborate in 3D as a group without having to wear 3D glasses or headsets.”

Tom Zerega, Founder and CEO of Magnetic 3D said, “We are thrilled to be working alongside Carolina’s team at the VAR Lab at UCF to support digital twin applications of our Glasses-Free 3D technology. Our mission is to make holographic 3D technology easy and accessible for all applications from smart manufacturing to digital humans to everyday commercial applications, such as in-store retail media networks, theme parks, QSR and more – affordable and easy-to-use immersive 3D technology is available now.”
