Less than one year ago Meta released new AI capabilities into their Ray Ban Meta Smartglasses.
Since then, sales have skyrocketed to over 2 million units worldwide, production can barely meet demand, and some of the biggest celebrities, athletes and influencers are proudly wearing these smart glasses.
The floodgates to this market have burst open and AI-Powered Smartglass projects are being announced on a weekly basis, with releases coming from Google, Samsung, Apple, and many, many others in 2025.
But the reality is that most consumers purchase new devices expecting to be able to enjoy them in multiple scenarios, only to find out that in many cases, the interaction falls short of expectations. This is a similar problem the virtual reality market faced which turned these incredible wearable computers into leisure devices for short spurts like gaming and media consumption.
There is no easy way to control the most popular features of these devices. such as music playback, AI queries and camera controls in a discrete, intuitive way. Current controls involve speaking out loud, using buttons or EMG controls that are not very cost effective.
The problem is so glaring that Meta has already invested billions of dollars in R&D of their EMG band, which at this time is only able to offer users with 3 gestures that require heavy calibration, demand the user to remain stationary and unfortunately is not completely accurate.
But what if there was an alternative?
It would have to be a system that requires no calibration.
Can be customized.
Is discrete.
Accurate.
Causes no fatigue.
Eyes free.
Tactile.
And, it is easy enough that nearly everyone can use it.
What if I told you that a system like this already exists and is available on the market right now?
Below you will find a simple video demonstration that shows you how you can control music on your phone which is paired to your Ray Ban Meta smartglasses (or any headphones for that matter) simply by tapping your fingers on any surface - even your own body!
