The VR/AR Association Central Florida Chapter is pleased to announce the appointment of Rear Admiral Paul Sohl (USN Ret) to its Board of Advisors.
Sohl is the CEO of the Florida High Tech Corridor Council (The Corridor), an economic development initiative of three of the country’s largest research institutions: University of Central Florida, University of South Florida and University of Florida. With a mission to grow high tech industry and innovation – and the workforce to support it – in a 23-county region spanning the state, The Corridor facilitates collaborations between partners in academia, industry and economic development to create communities with unlimited potential.
Prior to joining The Corridor, Paul served for 33 years in the United States Navy as an aviator and senior executive officer before retiring with the rank of Rear Admiral. Through leadership of The Corridor and in organizations such as the VR/AR Association, he continues to serve our nation by driving economic development initiatives.
“Virtual and augmented reality technologies have already contributed tremendously to advancements in the sectors, such as modeling and simulation and life sciences, spurring growth of The Corridor region’s economy,” said Paul. “I’m excited for the chance to more actively engage with the VR/AR Association and its partners in collaborations that will continue elevating the tech economy in our region and the state.”
John Cunningham, president of the VR/AR Association Central Florida Chapter, added, “We are truly honored that Paul has agreed to join the board to help us steer the chapter toward our goal of creating new opportunities for our members and establishing Central Florida as a recognized hub for XR innovation. He brings a tremendous amount of experience, leadership and passion to help serve our community.”
