Then join us for this inaugural event of XR-101 September 22 from 6:30-8:00pm EST supported by VRARA, ROTO and The Ohio State University Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design! This event is FREE and open to the public.

Ohio is one of the fastest growing technology hubs in the US. Home to some of the largest companies, the area is growing into a hotbed of young talent and innovative digital solutions. At this inaugural meeting we will be discussing the ways on how the Ohio community can get more engaged.

We will be meeting at the Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design and also broadcasting on Eventbrite. (details to come)

Come meet our speakers who are all globally recognized experts in the field of XR:

Nick Braun - Lead Producer Roto - As Lead Producer for the Immersive Media Studio, Nick is an experienced designer with a background in game design and immersive media. With an interest in field recording, immersive audio, and virtual and augmented reality, Nick’s capabilities make him an asset to Roto’s immersive media projects.

Jean-Yves Münch - Senior Lecturer / Creative Researcher - Jean-Yves Münch is a French-American sound recording engineer. In his early career, he worked as a location sound mixer for feature films. He also started working with the early creators of VR films, mastering the spatial-audio-post production workflow. He continues to work on numerous VR projects today. Jean-Yves currently resides in Columbus, OH, where he works as principal location and sound mixer for Felix & Paul Studio

The University of Cincinnati Director of Human Motion Lab, J.C. Barnes has been working extensively in this area. Come learn how this group has been working with Google-Jigsaw and other partners to develop new solutions for the training of law enforcement.

Presentation by Center of Science and Industry (COSI) and The May 4th augmented reality experience, which is designed to engage and immerse users as they journey through the events of May 4th, 1970 and reflect on its meaning for today. The experience invites users to view multiple perspectives of the Kent State shootings through the lens of augmented reality using historical imagery, audio, and related experiences that highlight past and current humanitarian struggles.
