Expert Panel of brand executives: The State of AR and VR in Shopping 2021

Join VRARA Chicago, Jeff Bodzewski, Partner and CEO of Wool & Water, and a panel of brand executives as we examine consumer interest in using Snapchat for eCommerce shopping, how curiosity in AR and VR has increased, and the impact these trends could have on retailers in the near future as we move closer to the Metaverse becoming a reality.

Our panel and discussion will center around a recent Wool & Water survey of more than 1,000 U.S. consumers between October 6 – 8, 2021.  The report revealed a strong majority (85%) of those who are somewhat or very excited about augmented reality (AR) as a way to interact with products. Additionally, another 85% are at least somewhat likely to choose a brand that gave them the option to increase confidence in the fit, look and experience of a product through AR or VR, over a competitor – up slightly from 83% in the Spring of 2021. These findings demonstrate the promise that AR offers, as well as the limitations of its most recognized platform: Snapchat.

Brands who want to thrive in this new and evolving market need to offer a fully shoppable experience throughout their entire omni-channel approach – something that Wool & Water has been offering for more than a year.

Touch, Scent, Temperature - Expanding the Frontiers of Virtual Reality (Online Event: Wed Feb 17 at 12pm EST)

VRARA SENSES (1).jpeg

VRARA Chicago invites you to join our own Distinguished Research Professor Stephen H. Haliczer in a webinar presenting three highly innovative researchers whose collective work suggests ways of incorporating touch, smell, heat and cold into VR experiences.

Cathy Fang, from Carnegie Mellon University, has created “Wireality,” which combines the mechanical with the virtual to simulate the feel of walls, metal bars, sculpture and other objects in virtual reality.

Brad Radvansky’s work at Northwestern University’s Dombeck Laboratory, demonstrates that the brains of mice can form a map of virtual space using only olfactory information.

Jas Brooks’ research at the University of Chicago Human-Computer Integration Laboratory, has shown that the controlled release of certain chemicals like capsicum can produce illusions of heat or cold during a virtual reality experience.

Taken together, these researchers’ results point the way to a dramatic expansion of the sensations that could be made available to the designers of VR experiences in order to make them more realistic and immersive. The potential applications for retail, user experience, and entertainment are boundless.  Join us for a first look at how our experiences with sight, smell, and touch will link together in the future of VR technology.

VR & AR: The Next Evolution of Emergency Response (Police, Fire, Military) - Chicago

Tickets: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/vrar-chicago-meetup-tickets-54348034434

Description:

In life’s critical moments, emergency responders take initiative. They rely on honed instincts and years of training. They are provided with tools to prepare them for every situation they may encounter. They make split second decisions that often mean the difference between life and death.

Virtual and augmented reality are tools that emergency response industries have embraced for a long time. The military has used heads up displays – one of the earliest forms of AR – in planes & helmet goggles since the 1960’s. Firearm Training Situation Simulators for law enforcement date back to the early 1980’s. Today, VR and AR provide tools for training, logistics, fleet management, operational planning, on-location support, and more to the military, police, fire, and emergency response departments at all levels of government.

Come hear from the experts how immersive technology is supporting the jobs of the people who protect society.

VRARA Chicago Chapter - How VR & AR Affect the Real Estate Industry

RSVP here

Screen Shot 2018-09-28 at 10.55.39 AM.png

Real estate is one of the industries that quickly adopted immersive technology. Virtual reality and augmented reality provide buyers and renters with a new way to experience properties, both on the commercial and residential side. With VR, prospective tenants can quickly view multiple properties without ever leaving their broker's office, gaining a better physical understanding of the spaces than flat photography can provide. Augmented reality allows prospective tenants to see potential office space layouts within the context of a raw space that they may be viewing. VR/AR Chicago is happy to bring together a panel of experts on Real Estate and Immersive technology to answer whatever questions you may have about how XR technology is going to affect the Real Estate Industry.
